Karen's story:

I was a size 18/20 and I was finding it really difficult to find trendy clothes that fitted me. I was getting more fed up with my body and feeling unhappy about myself.

BootsDiets gives me the freedom that I need. It's convenient and easy to use. I log on before going out for meals and plan what to eat. It records the regular food I eat and so filling in the diary becomes quick to do each day. I can adjust my week to allow for treats at the weekends.

What's been the key to your dieting success?

Firstly, wanting to change my lifestyle.
Secondly, being honest about what I'd eaten. If you fill in your daily log incorrectly, you're only fooling yourself.
Most importantly, understanding portion control is key. With BootsDiets, you can eat what you want but in moderation. Nothing is a sin and you don't have to count points. It's a real life plan for real people. Once you realise the calorific value of food you start to change your lifestyle.

What are your top three pieces of advice for other dieters?

  1. Stick with it - eating less and moving more works.
  2. Be honest with yourself. If you've had 3 glasses of wine don't pretend you had 2 to avoid going over your calories for that day. The computer doesn't want to lose weight, you do.
  3. If you've had a bad day, have a good one the next. If you've had a bad week, have a good one next week.

How have you adapted to your new healthier way of life?

BootsDiets has changed the way I look at food. I've changed my portion sizes. I understand food better. I still eat everything my family does, I just have less of it. I still have days when I overeat, the difference is that I know I've overeaten now and adjust my lifestyle to compensate for it. The family has benefitted as well, because I am controlling my portions, so I am learning to control theirs too. My legendary mash mountains are mash hills instead now!

How do you feel now compared to before you started the plan?

I feel better about myself, I feel healthier and more confident.
